After filming new and pickup interviews on greenscreen, the goal was to match the interviews to a handful of practically shot counterparts. With a compressed timeline, we built the backgrounds from a mixture of live-action plate and stock images using depth mattes to create 2 camera angles for each composite. The final composites were made in ACES and delivered in slog3, matched to the practicals, so they could be colored with the original interviews by DXD “as shot on camera” in the finishing process.

When it came to graphics; simple, clean, evidence presentation with a nod to the original medium was the goal. In order to draw the viewer to pertinent information, elements were highlighted and faded on in order of importance.
